Redneck Rampage

Game Review - by Dan Piparo
Redneck Rampage is a ruckus-raisin' riot of a first person 3D shooter set in the fictional town of Hickston, Arkansas. There are fourteen different levels and multiple locations provide fast action fighting, with power-ups of pork rinds, whiskey, and beer aplenty. The rustic, quirky charm of the deep, DEEP South comes to life in hilarious detail in Redneck Rampage with rich SVGA graphics and guaranteed authentic redneck dialogue. This game has All the Killin', Twice the Humor, and Half the Intelligence...

Graphics:
Redneck Rampage is built upon the successful Build engine, that brought you Duke Nukem 3D. This technology adds an incredible environment with realistic feeling. The scenery is sharp, detailed, and reeks of country imagery. All of the characters in Redneck Rampage have been really nicely drawn, and are more detailed than the usual 3D game villains. Though Redneck Rampage's plot was lame, the game's graphics and speed more than makes up for it. The levels are well-designed along with a adequate lighting and texture mapping. The character movement seemed to be smooth and responsive when quick action is needed. With it's sharpness, speed, and detail, Redneck Rampage makes Duke Nukem 3D look like PAC-Man.

Features:
Even the things that keep you alive in this game are crazy. Some of the crazy power-ups that you can pick are: Cheap ass Whiskey, a six-pack of beer, Moon Pie, and a bag of Pork Rinds. And as you eat and drink that junk, your alcohol level goes up and your belly expands. After you finish a bottle of whiskey or a six-pack of beer, your alcohol level can get so high that you become drunk. When you are drunk, you speak is slurred, you look control of the character, and shoots in awkward directions. But after loads of farting and tons of burping, your alcohol level goes down and you can continue fight regularly. They isn't a game in the world with crazier power-ups that this.

Sound FX:
The digitized speech is the only awesome FX sound effect in Redneck Rampage. Every person that you encounter with has something ridiculous to say to you, like: "Get off my land!" or "Squeal like a pig, boy!" And if you hit the ALT key, you can even hear what our hero has to say, which is mostly farting and burping. Even though farts and burps are disgusting, the farts and burps on this game sound so real that you'd think that it is really happening. How's that for a touch of realism?

Gameplay:
Practically every 3D feature you saw in Duke Nukem 3D is in Redneck Rampage, plus more! Like now you can shoot your enemies from incredible distance shots without proper aiming or positioning, which could be seen as flaw. Another difference here is that you really get to be a Redneck, so you can belch or fart whenever you want, you can shoot up the local bar, you can drink as much as you want, and you won't even get thrown in Jail. Ain't that X-treme or what, ya hear?
